Introduction:
Our Courses will enable teachers and technicians to get the most out of their equipment and support students wishing to explore lighting as part of a performance support element of GCSE Drama, a Creative and Media Diploma, BTEC(s) in Performing Arts or GCE Drama (Unit 2 AS and Unit 3 A2), as a hobby or as part of a team working on lighting for schools.
Course objectives:
The course is designed to cover the fundamentals of stage lighting and inspire creativity, using practical exercises for participants to experiment and get hands on experience.
This course combines our half day introduction and Intermediate courses into a single day.
Course content:
- Where to rig the lights, why and what difference it makes (includes practical section)
- Exploring and experimenting with the world of colour (includes practical section)
- Types of lights, which to use and why
- The lighting system including desk, dimmers and patching
- Rigging and focusing lights (includes practical section)
- Ideas for designing a small rig and creating good, even lighting
- Specials and effects
- How to work out how many lights you need to cover an area
- Plotting lighting
- Working from the text (includes practical section)
- Cue sheets and lighting plans
- Suggestions on how to assist students gain lighting experience within the school system and how to make the most of the equipment you have
