Sheffield Park Garden

National Trust-owned Sheffield Park Garden is internationally renowned for its landscaped garden and parkland. Capability Brown's magnificent creation includes waterfalls, cascades and four large lakes. The year round profusion of colour features bluebells, rhododendrons and trees with spectacular autumnal colours, along with being home to the national collection of Ghent azaleas.
Stage Electrics was asked to create, install and maintain a bespoke lighting system to illuminate a one and a half kilometer walk through the garden. At a traditionally quiet time of year The National Trust wanted to entice more visitors and to highlight the unique qualities of the garden in both architectural and horticultural terms.
With night-time temperatures dropping to minus 5, specifying the correct outdoor equipment was crucial. The Giant Sequoia trees are some of the tallest in the UK so the Stage Electrics team worked closely with the gardening team to understand which horticultural specimens were most important to highlight. The challenge of illuminating the beautiful grounds at Sheffield Park Garden for three weeks during the winter months was one the Stage Electrics team thoroughly enjoyed. What a stunning working environment!
"The Enchanted Garden was a good collaboration between The National Trust and Stage Electrics, who responded well to a very particular set of circumstances and produced an event that everyone involved was very pleased with. Visitor feedback was very positive and everyone enjoyed their visit to the Enchanted Garden."
