Stage Electrics was asked to provide an outdoor P.A. system for the parade ground at HMS Raleigh to be used for passing out parades, day to day training and events. The system has an outdoor induction loop for the hard of hearing. The client also required an indoor P.A. system
for a seated venue to be used in poor weather conditions.

Each system operated independently and may be used to host separate events simultaneously. The outdoor system is one of our first venues to use the new IP rated RCF P series acustica boxes. They were mounted on heavy duty S series Prolyte masts that are set into the floor with all cables running underground through ducting. They are fed with 100V line flexa series amplifiers and are volume adjustable depending on weather conditions and the area of the ground in use. This is to be used for CD playback and radio microphones.

We worked with Ampetronic to specify an induction loop system that would be suitable.

The indoor system uses standard indoor acustica speakers with an identical playback rack so the operating procedure is the same. There is no induction loop but we have allowed for expansion in the rack for an infra red system to be added at a later date.

It was noted that the team worked safely and efficiently in horrible weather conditions and with the added pressure of day to day parade ground operations going on. Outside contractors are often monitored by on site health and safety staff and this visit was no exception. The use
of ramps on vans, our manual handling skills and safe use of the correct access equipment during the contract were also noted. We were complimented on our cable routes and use of appropriate safety fixings, containment and neat workmanship, even down to the stainless steal cable ties.
