Zorro the Musical - Case Studies
Zorro the Musical
Zorro the Musical toured the UK for three months before moving to the Garrick Theatre. Ben Ormerod, lighting director, had selected Stage Electrics for the supply of lighting equipment during the tour so when the show moved to the West End, Stage Electrics was the obvious choice.
London's prestigious Garrick Theatre is smaller than many of the theatres visited during the tour which presented some space issues. The limited space needed to allow for automated sets and rigging which was used for flying scenes in the show, as well as for lighting.
All lighting for the show is supplied by Stage Electrics where we are pioneering the use of the ETC EOS Lighting Console. Martin products are extensively used including 50 Martin TW 1s, 80 Volt Mac 700s and 700 washes, along with Martin strobes. Source 4 revolutions complete with rotating gobos and shutting modules complementing the final capabilities of the system.
In order to overcome the space issue without reducing the power of the lighting supplied, our solution was to integrate a LLDE Wall enabling dimming of fluorescent tubes. As the LLDE Wall takes up less space than more traditional alternatives, this was the ideal solution.
