Winter Wonderland
Stage Electrics and The Mall shopping centre at Bristol's Cribbs Causeway have worked in partnership for three years to provide the stunning Winter Wonderland for shoppers during Christmas, featuring a temporary ice rink.
In 2007 Stage Electrics and The Mall had improved the overall layout of the ice rink and surrounding areas, pulling together all the areas of Winter Wonderland, creating a spectacular event. We were responsible for planning and designing the site layout and through a separate management contract, we coordinated and managed on site contractors ensuring they were working to site plans and health & safety regulations.
Due to the success of 2007's Winter Wonderland, we worked again with The Mall in 2008 to provide their ice rink, rink staff, skate exchange, ticket office and catering cabins along with power distribution, lighting and the rink's sound system. The 2008 rink was 50% bigger than the previous year and aimed to attract even more skaters than before. A magnificent 30ft Christmas tree adorned with 2,000 sparkling LED lights, creates a stunning focal point in the centre of the rink. New in 2008 was a Christmas Market with 20 wooden chalet-style stalls selling a variety of gifts and stocking fillers.
A single theme was developed which was evident in all structures from the skate exchange and ticket office to the catering cabins. Further themed solutions were provided for lighting, decoration and furniture.
The Mall's ice rink is now an established attraction, attracting shoppers and other visitors from across the region. Visitors encounter a stunning example of temporary ice leisure facilities.
