Every Eventuality

Ivybridge Watermark Centre

Stage Electrics was tasked to design a very flexible and easy to use system that council staff and members of the public could operate. The key objective was that the system was versatile enough to cater for weddings, conferences, meetings, parties, concerts, theatre and provide a complete cinema solution 3-4 nights a week.

Ivybridge IWB and drapesStage Electrics worked on the project from conception to design, supplying and installing a multipurpose PA system, theatre lighting system, front of house curtain track and a complete 5.1 surround sound system with data projector and electric screen.

The lighting system was installed with a 24 way Zero 88 chilli dimmer with three internally wired bars controlled by a Zero 88 Jester 12/24 console. Each bar had DMX outputs for intelligent fixtures. The lighting system is controlled by conveniently positioned points at the centre and the rear of the room via a loop thru facility.

Ivybridge cinemaThe cinema system comprises a Panasonic PTD5700 6000 lumen data projector with a short throw lens projecting onto an impressive 5.25m wide 16:9 electric screen. The audio is provided by a Yamaha surround sound amplifier with RCF monitor range of speakers, facilitating an immense intensity and range of sound.

The main PA is a flexible portable system designed to be used all over the room. There is a simple volume control for radio microphones, a CD player and an input for MP3 audio or other portable playback units.

Custom facility panels were positioned to aid flexibility in the venue. Laptop socket points were installed at the rear, centre and front of the hall to cater for corporate requirements and S-video inputs at the AV control rack position for camcorder feeds and portable playback devices.

The final result was a venue geared towards flexibility and future proofing for every eventuality. The Ivybridge Watermark Centre is thrilled with the versatile installation and the constant support and advice they received from Stage Electrics:

"The team at Stage Electrics provided a professional service, adapting the initial scheme design to meet grant application requirements and reductions in funding. Organisations using the space have been impressed with its technical capabilities and the challenge of meeting a multiplicity of uses from conferences to cinema and live events has been achieved to a high standard."
