Versatile Space
Stage Electrics was tasked with creating 3 performance spaces within an existing secondary school site taken over by the University of Chester.
The key challenge was to ensure that the new curtain track was installed with great precision so that it could sit inside the existing truss system and allow the curtains to open and close easily. The placement of the track also needed to allow enough space to accommodate a custom bleacher seating system.
The black box and white theatre spaces were constructed from an impressive old sports hall on the existing site. A sub grid was used within the space to facilitate suspension of a main lighting grid, providing a fully functional lighting system.
The lighting system was enhanced by carefully fitting Avolites Install Dimmers between the black and white box theatre space. This was fitted with an integral patch system reducing the need for a custom patch system.
The end result was 3 practical performance spaces with scope to enhance with further installations.
