Keeping your systems safe and in good working order isn’t just good practice, it’s often also a legal requirement.
We work with venues from schools to West End theatres and broadcast studios, so we know that when it comes to inspection and testing a one-size-fits-all approach just doesn’t cut it.
Our specialist team will work with you to tailor our services to your specific needs, from equipment sales and specialist technical installations to inspection and testing services, we’re here to help.
Checking electrical equipment safety, with visual inspection and testing.
Our technicians know what your lighting, audio and visual equipment is and how it works – and how to test it safely. In fact, we’ve found we can conduct electrical installation testing and identify 90% of problems without plugging anything in at all.
Once the visual inspection and electrical equipment installation testing is complete, we’ll label equipment and provide you with a full report, identifying what has been checked for your records.
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) identifies damage, deterioration, defects and/or conditions that may give rise to danger along with observations on opportunities and recommendations for improvement.
It is recommended electrical systems should be inspected periodically and have an up-to-date Electrical Installation Condition Report that demonstrates a compliant maintenance regime. Stage lighting systems, whether in a school or theatre, are no different and need regular inspections.
Our qualified electricians will test your system for compliance with the relevant edition of the IET Wiring Regulations and issue a certificate to show your system complies. That’s useful to prove to insurers and local authorities you have an effective inspection regime in place that catches things before they go wrong.
If your venue or business uses fixed or raise and lower rigging it needs to comply with a range of regulations. We offer electrical and mechanical inspection and testing services to ensure your equipment is safe and compliant.
PUWER regulations require equipment provided for use at work to be suitable, safe, maintained in a safe condition and inspected to ensure it is correctly installed and does not show signs of deterioration.
Overhead static equipment like fixed lighting bars, curtain tracks or other equipment must be inspected under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER)
The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (often abbreviated to LOLER) place legal duties on people and companies who own, operate or have control over lifting equipment and lifting accessories.
Equipment that raises or lowers loads, such as lighting or scenery bars, must be inspected annually (and in some cases six-monthly).
Whether your venue contains complex flying systems or simple winch bars and curtain tracks they all need to be inspected. Our rigging inspectors will examine your mechanical installations, equipment and accessories, recording the equipment’s condition in a Report of Thorough Examination to help you comply with your legal obligation.
Perhaps you work for an establishment with a hall, stage or drama studio and need more than just inspection and testing. We can help.
Our Inspection, Testing, Service and Repair Aftercare packages can include, workshop bench repairs, preventative maintenance and onsite repairs plus end user training.
“Just wanted to quickly email to say what a pleasure it’s been to have your team onsite the past few days. They have been friendly and approachable, explained in detail when issues have been found and also asking questions should they be unsure on anything. The venue has been left in an extremely tidy condition, both at the end of yesterday and today, and we have felt that a proper and thorough job has been undertaken with no details missed.
The team have been a pleasure to have on-site, in addition, it has also been a pleasure dealing with the people at Stage Electrics, and at no point have we felt like we have been left in the dark or missing information.
We are looking forward to having you back again next year. Thank you for all your help, and to all for a fantastic service.”
