The XES-8G is ideal for smaller to mid-sized productions with complex needs due to its user-friendly interface. As TCP/IP and Ethernet protocols gain traction in lighting and sound, there's a growing need for increased network capacity. The XES-8G offers sufficient bandwidth to control lighting for various shows and can manage data rates necessary for transmitting multiple audio channels or displaying high-resolution content on LED walls.
Being a layer 2 switch, the XES-8G operates independently of specific applications and is compatible with protocols built on TCP/IP and various Ethernet-based protocols. However, it's been optimized to seamlessly support Art-Net, sACN, and Dante. Unlike standard switches that may enter sleep mode during periods of inactivity, the XES-8G remains active and responsive, ensuring continuous data forwarding without any delay.
As TCP/IP and Ethernet protocols gain wider acceptance, the reliability of network infrastructure and its components has become paramount for various productions. In stage lighting, control data typically traverses at least one switch before reaching the fixtures, underscoring the importance of meticulous network planning, configuration, and installation. To mitigate the risk of network failures, the XES-8G features dual switch mode power supplies, allowing it to be powered from two independent mains sources.
